About us
Lyndon and Ros Bicknell formed Bicknell's Freight in October 2001 and the business has grown from humble beginnings to one of Victoria’s leading, privately owned, light freight companies. The focus has always remained to provide a personal and reliable service.
As a teenager, Lyndon worked with his parents in the family business, formerly known as Bicknell’s Freight Service. His parents created a high standard for customer service and this standard remains a tradition to be continued by the business today.
Lyndon is the operational manager responsible for the 11 drivers and 1 depot co-ordinator - ensuring that the different runs are going smoothly.
Ros is responsible for management of systems and administration tasks. She has a background in computing, working for almost 15 years with the systems department at the Campbell’s Soups plant located at Lemnos near Shepparton.
The company is predominantly a parcel freight business. During its nearing 10 years of operation, the business has continued to expand due to purchased runs as well as increased activity in existing runs.
The latest additions to the operations are Forden Freight in April 2009 and Meakin Freight in May 2009.
The fleet now consists of three 12 tonne trucks, one 8 Tonne truck, five 4 tonne trucks, one 3 tonne truck, one 1 tonne van, one 1 tonne ute, and a 7 tonne pig trailer.
All drivers are company employed (not owner drivers).
In September 2006, Bicknell's Freight moved to brand new premises with 750m² of depot space, large office space, and about 1000m² of concreted yard.
Lyndon and Ros say:
“Our business is very versatile and resilient.”
“We do not compete on price; we compete on quality of service. Our Customers want reliability and use us because they know that we will manage their freight every step of the way.”
